FEATURE: The Doctor Is In - April 2012Every month #LeatherMaskArt holds an inspirational challenge to get the creative juices of our Member Artisans flowing! April's challenge, entitled "The Doctor Is In", dared our Artisans to create masks in the theme of the foreboding Plague Doctor. Such beautiful masks come from dark origins inspired by the medieval doctors who would wear birdlike masks to protect themselves from airborne diseases. Strong aromatic herbs were inserted in the long 'snout' to stave of the stench of decay and the spread of The Plague. Theatrical commedia absorbed these costumes into the themes of a character, creating "The Plague Doctor" so popularly known today!Without further ado, our Member creations::thumb259833
